Your Exposure to Standard Market Pricing

Without Price Protection, your natural gas and electricity accounts are exposed to standard market pricing.

These rates change on a fixed schedule — every three months for natural gas (January 1, April 1, July 1, and October 1), and every six months for electricity (May 1 and November 1).

This means your energy costs are constantly being reset throughout the year.

And because these changes are tied to the market — not your usage — you are left vulnerable to increases right when you rely on energy the most.

Natural gas use is typically highest in the winter months when your home is being heated, and lowest in the summer. Electricity tends to follow the opposite pattern, increasing in the summer due to air conditioning and decreasing in the winter — unless the home is heated with electricity.

As a result, pricing changes can align directly with peak usage — leaving you exposed to higher costs when your home is consuming the most energy.

Our Price Protection Solution

Our Price Protection limits your exposure to standard market pricing by freezing the supply rate on your natural gas and electricity bill, so you pay one guaranteed rate no manner how the market changes or how much energy your home uses.

The rate you see is the rate you pay. There are no enrollment fees, no setup fees, and no hidden costs to put Price Protection in place on your account.

We also offer variable Spot Pricing, which takes your account off standard market rates and provides access to the real-time spot market, where you can benefit from extreme market lows if you are comfortable riding monthly fluctuations.

All of our natural gas and electricity supply options are fully customizable, so Price Protection is built around your home and how you use energy.

Guaranteed Price Stability

Lock in a stable energy supply rate so your home is protected from sudden spikes in natural gas and electricity prices.

Understanding Your Usage and Cost Factors

No two homes use energy the same way — even when they look similar.

The size of your home is only one factor. Layout, insulation, the age and condition of the windows, and the overall state of the unit can all change how much energy is required.

The type and age of your furnace, stove, fridge, and other appliances also play a role, with older systems and appliances typically using more energy than newer ones.

Location and exposure matter. Sun, shade, and wind exposure — along with surrounding trees, buildings, and nearby units — can all affect how much energy your home uses throughout the year.

The structure of the home makes a difference as well. Detached homes, semi-detached homes, townhomes, and units located in the middle or at the end of a building can all perform differently.

Day-to-day use matters too. The number of people in the home, how often doors are opened, and how frequently appliances are used all add up.

All of these factors directly affect how much natural gas and electricity your home uses — and what you end up paying.
